My Breakthrough Moment Has Just Arrived

Marilyn1.Dez.09
Two months ago I was called by my boss to go to her office, nothing special there, she used to call me several times a day, and so I went. But this time I went there to hear this sentence - «we are going to dispense your services»
Although I had to say it myself several times in the past, it was a real shock to me being in the other side, I was not counting on it at all, what a surprise it was.

But after the initial shock has passed I really started to get exited, because almost every opportunity that started to arise took me more in the direction of being self-employed instead of finding a new job, and that gave an unexpected feeling of freedom.

Jim Rohn was right when he said “You don't need more potential or talent to become successful, you already have enough potential and enough talent, what you need is more reasons!". While I was employed I didn’t have enough reasons to change, so I accommodated myself. Now that I have enough reasons to change I decided to embrace the challenge of representing Crestcom in the northern region of Portugal, they have a great product, and it’s something I really want to give a try, all my reasoning tell me that I have a lot to gain from the experience, and nothing to lose.

While my new business doesn’t take off I can still do what I do best (and still love doing) as self-employed, and that is what I’ve been doing in the last 13 years – creating software and managing projects. Thus, in parallel with my career in Crestcom, l will try my luck as an Information Systems Consultant. I already ordered by Business Cards from Moo’s.

Although I have read a lot about pursuing your dreams and your goals, and that that is the best decision you can make in your life, I have to admit that I am scared to death. I guess that is my lizard brain yelling at me, and according to Seth Godin, that is a signal that I am going in the right direction.

Today I read this article written by Steve Pavlina: 10 Reasons You Should Never Get a Job, and it really resonated with me, it quieted a bit my lizard brain. I specially liked the following paragraph, it was really an eye opening for me:

“Does putting yourself in a position where someone else can turn off all your income just by saying two words (“You’re fired”) sound like a safe and secure situation to you? Does having only one income stream honestly sound more secure than having 10?”

I decided to share this article with you because maybe you are in the right moment to read it too.

I am Catholic - I believe in God and believe in Christ; and I used to believe that my decisions in the past were driven by God, and that all the good things in my life came from that. Now I have a slight different view of it, today I don’t believe anymore that God is driving my decisions, but I do believe that he is supporting them – No matter the decisions you make, if you are faithful to your values and your principles everything will work out for the best.

Have a wonderful day,
R.
